You Can't Have It All

But you can have jewelry, shimmering like the star you once wished upon. You can have a fruitcake still warm from cooling by the window.
You can have colorful flowers as a centerpiece scented with the smell of admiration. You can have the warmth of a good sweater, gently holding you in its warm embrace.
You can have the comfort of a strong arm around you; this is your fort where no one dares to hurt you.
You can’t turn night into day at your will, but you might as well enjoy the sunset you can have in between.
You can have different tones of amber, oranges, and autumn leaves all mixed into your favorite bottle and released when sprayed into a mist.
You can have a chilled glass of water, the best medicine for a day in the sun.
You can have a red rose; from the time someone told you they loved you.
You can have the simple gift of a friend; from a hand in a time of need, to the laughs when eyes are filled with tears.
You can have fireflies at night, them being your only lights at night.
You can have a wish. No matter how hopeless or how dark an alley can be, you can have the promise of not letting go.
You can have butterflies in your stomach when you think of someone that is lucky to own your heart.
You can have a rosy glow overpower your cheeks when words sweet as honey pour into your ears.
You can’t have a life without disappointments, but where there is the slight ray of light, you can have hope.
